First let me say to you sisters that you do not hold a second place in our Father’s plan for the eternal happiness and well-being of His children. You are an absolutely essential part of that plan. Without you the plan could not function. Without you the entire program would be frustrated. As I have said before from this pulpit, when the process of creation occurred, Jehovah, the Creator, under instruction from His Father, first divided the light from the darkness and then separated the land from the waters. There followed the creation of plant life, followed by the creation of animal life. Then came the creation of man, and culminating that act of divinity came the crowning act, the creation of woman. Each of you is a daughter of God, endowed with a divine birthright. You need no defense of that position. Gordon B. Hinckley, “Women of the Church,” Ensign, Nov 1996, 67 |
There are some men who, in a spirit of
arrogance, think they are superior to women. They do not seem to realize
that they would not exist but for the mother who gave them birth. When
they assert their superiority they demean her. It has been said, “Man
can not degrade woman without himself falling into degradation; he can
not elevate her without at the same time elevating himself” (Alexander
Walker, in Elbert Hubbard’s Scrap Book [1923], 204)

M. Russell Ballard Consequently, I have done more lifting, twisting, and bending than ever before—and it has made me more appreciative of what women, and especially you mothers, do every day in our homes. While women live in homes under many different circumstances—married, single, widowed, or divorced, some with children and some without—all are beloved of God, and He has a plan for His righteous daughters to receive the highest blessings of eternity. Julie B. Beck Home is where women have the most power and influence; therefore, Latter-day Saint women should be the best homemakers in the world. Latter-day Saint women will do this—women who know and love the Lord and bear testimony of Him, women who are strong and immovable and who do not give up during difficult and discouraging times.
