The new site is user friendly and offers visitors a more interactive experience, including blog posts from the choir’s current concert tour, video clips from performances and behind the scenes preparations, and sound bites enabling website visitors to listen to and follow links to purchase the choir’s music. The upgraded site also provides better viewing on mobile devices.

A Deseret News article reporting the website upgrade quoted choir general manager Scott Barrick who noted a key reason for the website’s facelift:

One of the key messages from the choir is that it crosses cultural and generational boundaries. We know that not everyone can live in Salt Lake and listen to the choir live whenever they want. We want to share the choir with everyone wherever they are with our website.

The article continues:

Members of the church love the choir and are proud of it, but the website was built for fans of the choir whether they are members of the church or not. Some fans love the choir but are not interested in religion. Barrick said, “A woman I met in the Southern United States said, ‘Look, honey, when it comes to my religion, I’m Episcopalian through and through, but when it comes to my music, I’m all Mormon Tabernacle Choir.’ That woman should feel comfortable on the site and enjoy it regardless of her religious affiliation.”

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s Mission and Purpose

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing. And quote from James E. Faust about technology.According to Mormon Tabernacle Choir.org, the choir acknowledges that “[a]s an ambassador for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this unique musical organization transcends cultural and generational boundaries, uniting people worldwide through music.”

Music provides a unique way for people to collectively honor Jesus Christ. “For my soul delighted in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads” (Doctrine & Covenants 25:12).

In a video advertising the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s summer concert tour, Latter-day Saint singer, song writer, and member of the Choir, Alex Boyé expresses his passion for singing, “I never ever want to take a chance to be able to sing for granted.  That’s all that matters to me. Just sing like it’s the last time you’re ever gonna sing.”

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir certainly conveys that united and awe-inspiring joy in music so thoroughly that pop star Sting said of the choir, “I didn’t know people were capable of producing such beauty.” [1]
