He was born in Milford, Ohio.   He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1st round (1st pick) of the 1975 amateur draft (Secondary Phase).   He began his Major League baseball career in 1977.   He was reading the Book of Mormon one day, and Dale Murphy noticed and asked him about it.   He baptized him in 1979.   He played 10 seasons on 3 teams and ended his big league career in 1986
