Spencer Burhoe is a well-known and popular figure in the modeling world. He has worked all over the world, from Miami to Milan, and has been open about his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Burhoe began modeling when he was 17 as the result of a joke between him and his father. At the time, Burhoe was working installing hardwood floors and was constantly coming home dirty and tired. One day, as a joke, his dad handed him a ‘Models Wanted’ ad he’d seen in the paper. To continue the joke, Burhoe and his mom decided to go to the casting call just to see what they would say. To their surprise, the recruiter liked what he saw and signed up Burhoe then and there.

He started out working in local bridal shows and for local photographers, but Burhoe quickly started moving up in the fashion world. While attending Brigham Young University (BYU) after high school, he modeled for fashion week in Milan – twice. He was set to become the new face of Prada, but decided to put his modeling career on hold in favor of an LDS mission in Japan.

After returning from his two year mission, Burhoe wasn’t sure modeling was something that would continue to be in his future. He started studying Japanese and would model for some friends on the side, but soon he was spotted by agencies once again and re-scouted. He decided to go with it and has been modeling full-time ever since.

Burhoe is aware that trying to balance his religious and personal values with his job in an industry not known for having such high standards might seem difficult, but he says it hasn’t been much of a problem for him. According to Burhoe, he lives his standards wherever he is. He does his job, and it doesn’t matter if he’s on or off-set – he’s still the same person. His agencies are fully aware of what he is comfortable participating in and what’s he refuses to do. He holds strongly to the belief of being in the world, but not of the world.

With his height, blonde hair and blue eyes, Burhoe is just what a lot of companies look for in their models. Even with his popularity, Burhoe manages to stay down to earth and sees his career as just doing his job.
