On the latest edition of the weekly Mormon Channel Studio Series, pianist and composer Monica Scott performed and original song, “For Coey” and a cover of “I Am A Child of God.”
“For Coey” is a song that Scott wrote to perform at the funeral of a young boy who tragically passed away from cancer. When her friend requested the song, Scott prayed for help and inspiration. It was the next day, she said, that the melody for “For Coey” came to her.

Scott is the mother of four beautiful children, which inspired her to choose the classic primary tune “I Am A Child of God” as the second song she would perform.
Both songs are beautifully performed, and it’s easy to see the talent of Scott and her ability to not just compose, but as a performer herself.
