A Relief Society president of the Urbana University Ward Champaign Illinois Stake at the time of the Olympics from Illinois, American wheelchair track athlete Miriam Nibley competed in the 100-meter, 800-meter and marathon races in Athens.

She was a member of the USA women’s wheelchair basketball team that competed in the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney Miriam scored two points on a pair of free throws as a starting guard for the U.S. women’s wheelchair basketball team, which defeated Germany 50-30 in consolation play at the 2000 Sydney Paralympics.
