Jesus Christ is the central figure in all the beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is the literal son of God and a member of the Godhead, which consists of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.

Jesus-Christ-Lamb-MormonUnder the direction of the Father, Jesus Christ created this world so that all of God’s children could learn and grow to become more like Him.Jesus came to live on earth as the child of a mortal mother, Mary, and an immortal father, God.His presence here served to show us a clear example of the principles and ordinances contained in His gospel as well as to open a path for us to return to live with Him and our Father in Heaven after this life is over.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

His perfect, sinless life allowed Jesus to take upon Himself all of the mistakes, pains, and misgivings that plague each of us in mortality. He understands our fears, worries and concerns. He has experienced the pain and full consequences of our sins so that we would not have to.His atoning sacrifice allows for these things to be cleared from our lives, if we turn them over to Him through sincere repentance. This cleansing process re-establishes our purity and sinless nature that allows us to return to live with God after death. His crucifixion and consequent resurrection open the gates that death creates as another barrier to eternal life within God’s presence.Without Jesus Christ’s loving sacrifices for each of us, and His clear example of God’s path, we would not be able to experience the measure of joy that has been promised after death.

Jesus Christ showed each of us what type of life we should lead in order to find happiness in this life, and the next.We are to follow His example as closely as we can, seeking each day to improve our relationship with Him.

Among the things He has asked us to do are:

Develop faith in Him

Repent of our sins

Be baptized by proper authority

Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost

Make promises and covenants to accept and live the gospel of Jesus Christ

Keep His commandments

Love God and our fellow man above the aspirations of the world
