Glenn Beck is a famous Mormon and popular political commentator, entertainer, commentator, author, self-professed “rodeo clown,” and father. [1] His radio program (The Glen Beck Program) reaches millions of listeners daily, and he is heavily involved in public rallies and political events. Despite consequences in losing voters, he openly shares with others that he is a Christian and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (inaccurately called the Mormon Church by the media).

It’s ironic that Beck, a Mormon, would gain acceptance as a leader of a new Christian coalition. … Beck’s gift … is to articulate God’s special plan for America in such broad strokes that they trample no single creed or doctrine while they move millions with their message. [1]

Before the famous Mormon became LDS, Glenn was divorced, unemployed, suicidal, and addicted to drugs. “Beck has credited God for saving him from drug and alcohol abuse, professional obscurity, and friendlessness.” [1] He only agreed to participate in a “church tour” at his future wife’s request. [2] Prior to their marriage and knowing they had children to raise and influence, she demanded that they chose a religion and join a church. He then studied Mormon doctrine and prayed to God to know the truthfulness of the message that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored. He had been raised a Catholic Christian but decided to be baptized a member of the LDS church (by his best friend Pat Gray), in 1999, along with his wife and children. [3] As the family was “church hopping,” it was actually Beck’s children who first had a “this is the place” experience with the Church of Jesus Christ.

“My life changed,” says Glenn. “I may look the same. I may sound the same. But I am not the same man. . . the healing power of Jesus Christ transformed me.” [4]

Some claim that Glen’s political views and theories were influenced by his religious Christian beliefs.

Philip Barlow… has said that Beck’s belief that the U.S. Constitution was an “inspired document,” his calls for limited government and for not exiling God from the public sphere, “have considerable sympathy in Mormonism.” [1]

Many people disagree with the famous Mormon’s comments but “…Glenn Beck is passionate about truth. In that aspect, I would say he is representative of Mormons everywhere who seek out, study and accept the truth.” [5] Glenn Beck believes in “personal responsibility, private charity, the right to life, freedom of religion, limited government, and family as the cornerstone of society.” [1] He follows the modern prophet’s counsel to “maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.” [6]

Faith in Jesus Christ is a vital force in the lives of Mormons, that inspires us to follow the Savior’s example in public as well as in private… If we keep the big picture in mind, we remember that we’re all sons and daughters of God—literal brothers and sisters. By doing our best to be good citizens, we are making the world around us a more beautiful, peaceful and fair place for our own families and our fellow human beings. [7]
